7 Řádků

Filip Nagy

  • Founder & Winemaker: The main force behind 7 Řádků is Filip Nagy. He was initially joined by a friend, Honza Šlancar, when the project started.

  • Background: Filip studied winemaking and viticulture at Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic). His passion for winemaking was deeply influenced by the small-scale production of his grandfather in his home village on the Slovak-Ukrainian border.

  • Philosophy: Filip believes that a sincerely made wine captures three things: Time, Place, and Human. His wines are often described as pure, raw, and expressive. He also makes wines for the Zlatý Roh project.

🗺️ The Winery: A Cross-Border Project

  • Origin: The name "7 Řádků" comes from the seven rows of vines in Moravia, Czech Republic, that Filip and his friends first shared when they started the project in 2014 while in university.

  • Location: The micro-winery is a cross-border project, with vineyards and production split between two regions:

    • Moravia, Czech Republic (specifically the Velkopavlovická region and the original seven rows in Němčičky).

    • Slovakia (specifically the Malokarpatská region, where Filip is now based in Devín, near Bratislava).

  • Vineyard Size: Filip farms approximately 1 hectare in Moravia and 7 hectares in Slovakia.

🌱 Winemaking Style: Organic & Biodynamic

  • Natural Wine: 7 Řádků is firmly rooted in the natural wine movement.

  • Farming: They practice organic and biodynamic farming, utilizing the vineyard's biospheric support from animals like cows, horses, and bees to help remediate the effects of previous pesticide and herbicide use during the communist era.

  • Low Intervention: The winemaking process is deliberately low-intervention, using no additives or chemicals and minimal to no sulfur additions.

  • Aging: Wines are aged in a variety of vessels, including classic barrels, concrete eggs, and traditional Georgian qvevri (large clay vessels buried underground).

🍷 Key Wines and Styles

7 Řádků produces small, often unpredictable batches that reflect the vintage and terroir. Their wines frequently carry a "label" designation:

  • Black Label: Often a White Blend, typically showcasing the Moravian side of the winery.

  • Red Label: A red wine, commonly made from the regional favorite, Blaufränkisch (Frankovka).

  • Orange Label: Their skin-contact (orange) wine, often a blend of Welschriesling and Riesling.

  • Qvevri: An orange wine, frequently made from Grüner Veltliner, aged in the Georgian clay vessels.

  • Not For Sale: A wine that changes grape variety or style every year, reflecting an experimental or unique lot.
