Lan Bertrand
Domaine Minhae
Lan Bertrand is the founder and winemaker of Domaine Minhae, a young but already highly regarded natural wine estate in Beaujolais. After working with several leading domaines and immersing himself in agroecology, Lan established Domaine Minhae in 2021, farming just two hectares of old vines across plots in Blacé, Régnié, and Moulin-à-Vent.
Guided by a philosophy of biodynamic and regenerative viticulture, Lan farms without chemicals and emphasizes soil vitality, biodiversity, and balance within the vineyard ecosystem. He employs cover crops, minimal tillage, and natural treatments to preserve the microbiome of the soil and to strengthen vine resilience in the face of climate challenges.
In the cellar, his winemaking is equally restrained and precise: fermentations rely exclusively on indigenous yeasts, with no additives, minimal extraction, and aging in neutral vessels that respect the purity of Gamay. The cuvées—such as “Blacé” (Beaujolais-Villages), “Alchimie” (Régnié), and single-site Moulin-à-Vent bottlings—are vibrant, terroir-driven wines that combine freshness with structure, highlighting the granite and schist soils of southern Beaujolais.
Lan Bertrand’s vision for Domaine Minhae is to craft wines that are both ecologically responsible and deeply expressive of place. His work represents a new generation of Beaujolais vignerons, blending rigorous vineyard science with a natural, minimalist approach in the cellar.
