L'Oiseau
RôdeurMarie Menoux & Thomas Rougier
Founded in 2021 after leaving professional lives in Lyon. Five and a half hectares of organic vines between Poligny and Grozon, crafting precise, clean natural wines from Jurassic marl and clay.
Changing Lives, Changing Soil
2023
First vintage from 50-year-old vines that allowed them to produce while their newly planted vines mature.
Marie Menoux and Thomas Rougier decided to change their professional lives and leave Lyon for the vines and wine of the Jura. In 2021, they established L'Oiseau Rôdeur—the Wandering Bird—between the villages of Poligny and Grozon.
Working approximately 5.5 hectares, they have planted 3.5 hectares of new vines since their installation. The remaining surface is a 50-year-old vineyard that allowed them to vinify their first vintage in 2023 while their young plantings grow.
From the first year, every parcel was converted to organic agriculture—not as a certification goal, but out of respect for the soils and the plant. In the cellar, fermentations proceed with indigenous yeasts only. The wines are neither filtered nor fined.
Jurassic Marl & Blue Clays
Poligny &
Grozon
Two distinct terroirs in the heart of the Jura. Poligny sits on Jurassic limestone and marls, while Grozon offers blue clays and ancient vineyard sites. The dynamism of the Poligny winegrowing region meets the tradition of Grozon's old vines.
Total vineyard area split between newly planted vines and heritage parcels.
Years old
The existing vineyard that produced their first 2023 vintage while new plantings (3.5ha since 2021) mature.
Organic from day one. Respect for soils and plants drives every decision.
Native yeasts, no filtration, no fining, minimal sulfur or zero.

Jours Brumeux
A foggy day in the Jura—this blend captures the misty mornings of Poligny. Fresh, aromatic, and precise. The Savagnin brings structure while Chardonnay offers immediate pleasure. A perfect introduction to their style.
Bagatelle
Light and perfumed, this is Pinot Noir from Jurassic marls—not Burgundy, but unmistakably Jura. Red fruit, forest floor, and that particular sanguine quality of the region. Whole cluster fermentation adds spice and structure.
Décors
A white wine made from the red Trousseau grape—direct press, no maceration. The fruit expresses itself with brilliance; the palate is ample and silky with fine tannins and beautiful freshness from the high altitude.
Riesling
An unexpected variety in the Jura, planted by Marie and Thomas on their new parcels. The Jurassic marl and cool nights preserve acidity while allowing the variety's aromatic expression to shine through.
Coming Soon
As their 3.5 hectares of new vines mature (planted 2021-2024), expect to see new cuvées emerge—perhaps Mondeuse, perhaps local specialties, definitely wines that continue to wander and explore.
