Marine Bonnet & Pierre Cotton — Domaine Bonnet-Cotton
Pierre Cotton
grew up in Odenas, in the Beaujolais region, where his family has been making wine since 1856. After an early career as a motorcycle mechanic and formal winemaking studies in the Loire, he returned to Beaujolais in 2014 to vinify his first wine, “100% Cotton,” from one hectare of Côte-de-Brouilly.
Over the following years, he expanded the domaine’s holdings with vineyards in Brouilly, Régnié, Fleurie, and Beaujolais. His philosophy centers on organic farming, spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts, semi-carbonic maceration, and long élevage in large, old foudres. His work highlights the unique terroirs of each cru, from Côte-de-Brouilly’s corne verte soils to the granite slopes of Fleurie.
Marine Bonnet
Marine Bonnet is an agronomist specializing in viticulture who officially joined the domaine in 2020. She has brought a scientific and ecological perspective to vineyard management, implementing biodiversity-driven practices such as planting 500 trees annually, introducing cover crops, and developing herbal treatments to reduce dependence on copper and sulfur. She also promotes agroforestry and regenerative approaches, adapting the vineyards to the challenges of climate change.
Together with Pierre, Marine manages both the vineyard and cellar, while also working with local networks of growers to spread sustainable and resilient viticultural practices in Beaujolais.
The Domaine
Domaine Bonnet-Cotton is based in Odenas, at the foot of Mont Brouilly, and farms several hectares across Côte-de-Brouilly, Brouilly, Régnié, Fleurie, and Beaujolais. The estate is certified organic and committed to agroecology, crafting wines that are vibrant, terroir-driven, and expressive of Beaujolais’s granite soils.
