Natural Wine Profile

Robin
Goutallier

Quincié-en-Beaujolais
Teacher · Vigneron · Beekeeper

Part-time teacher, full-time meticulous farmer. Since 2014, Robin has been proving that 1 hectare of organic Gamay and 30 beehives can produce some of Beaujolais' most exciting natural wines—all while grading papers.

Robin moved to Quincié-en-Beaujolais and bought a house that happened to come with a small vineyard. Inspired by neighbors like Romain Des Grottes and Hervé Ravera, he began farming organically by hand, applying the same strict attention to detail he uses in the classroom. No shortcuts, no chemicals, just careful observation and natural intuition.

The Teacher

Day Job

Still works as a teacher while farming 1 hectare and tending 30 beehives. Brings academic rigor to the vineyard—every decision calculated, every intervention questioned.

The Altitude

High Sites

Vines planted up to 500 meters on granite and clay-limestone soils. The cool nights and steep slopes give wines of surprising freshness and tension despite the warm vintage years.

The Parcels & Bees

One hectare scattered across Quincié and Marchampt. 80-year-old vines behind his house, plus newer high-altitude acquisitions. And yes, he keeps 30 beehives—pollination partners and honey producers.

60% De Velours 450m altitude · 2 week maceration
36 Fois Le Mise 500m · Granite · 10 day maceration
Y'a Pas Que D'la Pomme 80yo vines · Clay/limestone · Behind house
30 Beehives Honey production · Pollination

Organic farming since day one (in conversion certification). Everything done by hand. The beehives aren't just for honey—they're part of the ecosystem, ensuring the wildflowers between the vines thrive.

"An enlivening Pétillant... best served well-chilled and kept upright in the fridge before serving!"
