Stephan Krämer
is a winemaker and organic farmer based in Auernhofen in the Taubertal Valley, Franconia (Germany). Together with his family, he has farmed organically for decades, with the estate certified organic since 1989. His work has made him one of the most distinctive voices in Franconia’s natural and terroir-driven wine scene.
Stephan farms approximately four hectares of steep, terraced vineyards in the Tauber Valley. The vineyards are shaped by cool-climate conditions and limestone-rich soils, and his viticultural approach prioritizes soil health, biodiversity, and long-term ecological balance.
In the cellar, Stephan follows a low-intervention philosophy. Fermentations are spontaneous, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered, typically with only a small addition of sulfur at bottling. His focus is on regional grape varieties such as Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, and Johanniter, often vinified as single-vineyard expressions that clearly reflect site and vintage.
Stephan Krämer’s wines are known for their clarity, minerality, and quiet intensity, offering honest expressions of the Taubertal Valley and reinforcing his reputation as a respected figure in Franconia’s natural wine movement.
