Les Clos Perdu

"Les Clos Perdus" is an acclaimed wine estate located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France, specifically with vineyards spanning Corbières Maritime, Haute Corbières, and Vallée de l'Agly. It was founded in 2003 by Paul Old, who later partnered with Ben Adams in 2013. The name "Les Clos Perdus" (The Lost Vineyards) refers to the old, often neglected, isolated parcels of vines that Paul sought out and acquired.

Their philosophy is deeply committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture, aiming to restore health and vitality to their diverse vineyard soils, including schist, clay, and limestone. They are Demeter certified biodynamic since 2014(and organic since 2006). In the winery, their approach is traditional, labor-intensive, and respectful of the fruit. Fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts, and extraction is precise. Wines are aged with minimal interference, often utilizing old oak barrels or stainless steel, with an emphasis on allowing the terroir to speak. They generally bottle their wines without fining or filtration, and with minimal or no added sulfur, especially for certain cuvées like "Project 108." They are known for producing wines of purity, tension, earthiness, and refinement.

Les Clos Perdus works with a range of grape varieties typical of the Languedoc-Roussillon, including the primary red grapes Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault. For white wines, they cultivate Macabeu, Grenache Gris, and Muscat. They produce a diverse portfolio of still wines, including reds, whites, and rosés, often as blends that express the characteristics of their specific "lost" vineyards and the unique terroirs of the region.
