Château Lestignac

Nestled in the heart of Sigoulès, in the Bergerac region of Southwest France, Château Lestignac is a 10-hectare organic and biodynamic estate run by Camille and Mathias Marquet. The land has been in Mathias’ family since 1617, and in 2008, the couple took over 17 hectares—later refining it to 10 hectares to focus on quality over quantity.

Their vineyards, home to vines aged between 45 and 90 years, thrive on clay-limestone, flinty limestone, and silty clay soils. The estate cultivates 2.5 hectares of red varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) and 4.5 hectares of whites (Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Muscadelle, Ugni Blanc, and Trebbiano).

Certified organic by ECOCERT since 2010 and biodynamic since 2011, the estate embraces a holistic approach to viticulture. Camille and Mathias work with horse-drawn plows, plant trees and flowers to support agroforestry, and raise goats, horses, and chickens to promote biodiversity in the vineyard.

In the cellar, their philosophy is minimal intervention: natural vinification, spontaneous fermentations, and no additives—except for a touch of sulfur (≤10 mg/L) at bottling for certain whites. Wines are aged in used barrels, allowing the expression of terroir and grape to shine.

Their wines—including Les Brumes (Sémillon, Ugni Blanc), Racigas (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), Plouf (a light red blend), Tempête (a deeper red), and Blizzard (white)—are known for their freshness, elegance, and vibrant fruit character.

Following severe frost in 2017, the couple launched Hors les Murs, a négoce project sourcing organic and biodynamic grapes from friends and fellow growers. They also produce natural cider, extending their expression of the land beyond wine.

Today, Château Lestignac wines are enjoyed across Europe, North America, and beyond—a testament to the Marquets’ commitment to craft, sustainability, and authenticity.
