Controcorrente Winery (Sicily)

This is a natural wine project on Mount Etna in Sicily.

• Location: The winery is located in the volcanic terroir of Mount Etna. The vineyards are on high-altitude slopes with a unique, mineral-rich soil.

• The Founder: Nino Calì, a native of Etna, founded this project. He works with newly planted vines on his grandfather's land, combining an experimental spirit with a deep respect for local tradition.

• Philosophy: Nino's winemaking is a "countercurrent" approach, where he experiments with different techniques while honoring the traditions that make Etna wines so singular.

• Notable Wines: He focuses on local grapes like Nerello Mascalese and Carricante. His wines include a pétillant naturel (pét-nat) and a skin-contact white wine. The wines are known for their vibrant energy and sense of place.
