Domaine Milan – Natural Wine from the Heart of Provence

Nestled in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, Domaine Milan has been a family-run estate since 1956. Today, under the guidance of Henri Milan and his son Théophile, the 17-hectare vineyard is a benchmark for natural winemaking in southern France.

Certified organic since 2002 and working biodynamically, the Milans avoid chemicals, use native yeasts, and embrace low- to no-sulfite vinification. Their soils—blue marl, limestone, and sandstone—are farmed with care, using horse plowing and cover crops to support biodiversity and soil health.

In 2007, Domaine Milan left the Baux-de-Provence AOC to bottle under Vin de France, choosing creative freedom over convention. With 13 grape varieties including Chardonnay, Rolle, Grenache, Syrah, and Nielluccio, they craft a wide range of expressive wines.

Highlights include Le Grand Blanc (a rich white blend), Le Vallon (a juicy, Mediterranean red), and Le Clos Milan (a deep, age-worthy cuvée). Their more experimental bottlings—like Haru, a skin-contact white, and Papillon Sans Soufre, a sulfite-free rosé—reflect their ongoing passion for innovation.

Henri’s early mentorship by natural wine legend Marcel Lapierre and his pioneering role in Provence’s natural wine scene make Domaine Milan a vital name in contemporary French wine.
