Clos de Jerminy — Domaine Overnoy

The forest's edge, bottled

The Wine

A monument to old-vine Chardonnay from one of the Jura's most captivating terroirs. Perched above the village of Beaufort in the Sud Revermont, the Clos de Jerminy vineyard is a 2-hectare sanctuary surrounded by ancient forest, where a mid-slope pond creates a unique microclimate for vines planted in the early 1970s .

In the Glass

Golden hay with amber glints. The nose is immediately complex—honeysuckle, ripe pear, and toasted chestnut lifted by a mineral whisper of blue marl and wet stone. On the palate, this is pure Jura Chardonnay in its most complete form: two years of gentle aging in old Burgundy barrels (228L and 500L) builds luxurious texture and subtle spice, while the high-altitude site and native acidity keep everything razor-fresh. Unfiltered and bottled with minimal sulfur (just 0.5g/hl at press), it finishes long and saline, humming with the energy of its forest home .

The Story

Guillaume Overnoy tends these 40-50-year-old vines—his family's legacy since they first planted here in the 1970s. Now certified organic and inspired by his great-uncle Pierre (the legendary father of natural wine), Guillaume crafts this cuvée as an ouillée style—barrels topped throughout aging to preserve fruit purity rather than oxidative character. The result is a wine that bridges Burgundian depth with Jura transparency .

Perfect For

Serious Chardonnay collectors seeking beyond Burgundy. Ideal with roast guinea fowl, lobster in butter sauce, aged Comté (24 months), or simply a moment of contemplation. Decant 30 minutes before serving at 13°C to unlock its full aromatic complexity .
