Barbichette: Crafting Natural Wine in the Heart of Brooklyn
Born from a passion for showcasing the vibrant potential of New York's local fruit, Barbichette is a Brooklyn-based natural wine producer founded by the dynamic duo, César Vega and Louisiane Remy. Their journey began as an experimental endeavor to craft wines for friends and family, and it has since blossomed into a commitment to celebrate the Finger Lakes' exceptional terroir.
At Barbichette, their philosophy is simple yet profound: less is more. They believe in letting the fruit speak for itself, employing meticulous, manual methods with absolutely no added sulfites, yeasts, chemical additives, fining, or filtering. This hands-on approach, rooted in the same precision and consistency that defined César's acclaimed Café Integral, ensures that every bottle reflects the purest expression of the grape.
Barbichette's wines are a harmonious blend of their individual sensibilities. Louisiane, with her background in art and fashion design, brings an appreciation for quality and elegant simplicity, while César's unwavering dedication to technique and precision, honed through his coffee ventures, guarantees a consistently exceptional product.
Since their inaugural pét-nat in 2019, crafted from Seneca Lake grapes, they have expanded their repertoire to include a diverse range of cuvées. They exclusively source their grapes from organic and sustainably farmed vineyards, primarily nestled around Seneca Lake. From their fruit-forward "¡Claro Que Sí!" Pét-Nat to the aromatic and mesmerizing "Chette Baker Orange Wine", each bottle tells a story of careful stewardship and natural beauty.
Barbichette wines are a testament to their dedication to honest, delicious, and authentically New York wine, making a significant mark on the city's burgeoning natural wine scene.
