Anaïs Fanti

Ammerschwihr - Alsace

Anaïs Fanti distinguishes herself as a standout figure among the emerging talents in Alsace winemaking. Born and raised in the village of Ammerschwihr in the southern part of the region, Anaïs comes from a family deeply entrenched in grape cultivation. Despite starting her career as a nurse, she underwent a transformative journey in the cradle of wine, Georgia. This experience prompted her to forsake nursing and embrace her role as the third generation tending to the family vineyards.

In overseeing the 1.6 hectares of family-owned land, Anaïs not only holds a degree in agricultural business management but has also immersed herself in maceration techniques acquired in Georgia. Her vineyards, spanning just one and a half hectares, host vines aged up to fifty years, scattered across tiny plots surrounding the village. Anaïs focuses on cultivating Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Auxerrois, prioritizing organic and biodynamic farming. Her commitment extends to promoting biodiversity by integrating trees among the vines and allowing wild grasses and flowers to thrive throughout most of the year—a practice uncommon in Alsace.

The winemaking process unfolds in a modest space beneath her uncle's village residence, featuring one of the smallest and simplest cellars. Anaïs approaches winemaking with gentleness, thoughtfulness, and practicality, employing a handful of vats, barrels, and an aged press—everything essential for crafting truly captivating wines.

Anaïs's wines are distinguished by their vibrancy, aromatic qualities, and exceptional richness. Expectations run high for the future endeavors of this exceptionally talented young winemaker.
