Delphinium Wine Co. is a boutique sparkling wine producer based in Northern California, founded by sommelier and wine journalist Courtney Humiston. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of French crémant and the coastal terroir of Sonoma and Mendocino counties, Delphinium crafts wines that reflect both place and philosophy.
Philosophy & Winemaking
Delphinium's wines are produced using organic grapes, native yeast fermentation, and minimal intervention. The focus is on creating wines that are fresh, soulful expressions of California's coastal regions. The winery emphasizes sustainability, donating a portion of profits to tide pool conservation and restoration through the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
The Wines
The flagship wine, the 2023 Delphinium 'California Crémant', is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from Mendocino vineyards. This vintage marks the third release, with a production of 500 cases. The wine is characterized by notes of stone fruit, citrus, coastal foliage, and a hint of sea breeze.
Previous vintages have included different grape compositions, such as the 2022 blend of 60% Riesling, 30% Sauvignon Blanc, and 10% Friulano. These wines are known for their delicate bubbles, creamy texture, and fresh, elegant profiles.
Founder: Courtney Humiston
Courtney Humiston brings over a decade of experience in the wine industry, having worked as a sommelier and journalist. Her passion for natural and organic practices, combined with her love for Champagne, led her to establish Delphinium Wine Co. Her goal is to create wines that lift the spirit and honor the natural world.
