Domaine de Sulauze
The Domaine de Sulauze thrives on a truly unique terroir, where the soil is a rich blend of limestone, shells, and sand.
Nestled within Côteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, the second-largest appellation in Provence, this historic estate is located in one of the most westerly parts of the region. The vineyards, steeped in history, trace their roots back to 600 BC. Positioned just outside the town of Miramas, it serves as a gateway to the untamed and pristine landscapes of the Camargue.
Karina and Guillaume took over the Domaine de Sulauze in 2004, bringing with them a vision for sustainable farming. They adopted organic practices across their vineyards, wheat fields, barley crops, olive groves, and vegetable gardens, and soon transitioned to biodynamic agriculture.
Today, the Domaine spans 30 hectares of vines, 2 hectares of barley for brewing, 2 hectares of wheat for bread-making, and 5 hectares of olive trees, all cultivated in harmony with biodynamic and agroecological principles.
No weed killers, insecticides, or chemical treatments are used. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand, and all activities are aligned with the lunar calendar to respect natural rhythms.
In the cellar, minimal intervention is key. This approach allows the wines to authentically express the essence of their terroir and preserve their unique character.
