Edoardo Sacchetto: The Visionary Behind Ananda

In the heart of the Euganean Hills near Padova, Italy, Edoardo Sacchetto is crafting wines that reflect his free-spirited philosophy and commitment to natural farming. With a hands-on approach and no chemicals, his winemaking process honors the earth, the moon’s orbit, and biodynamic principles. Edoardo’s wines are as unique as his journey, combining intensity and freshness with a profound sense of place.

A Passion for Natural Wine

Edoardo’s winemaking story began in 2016, when he founded Azienda Agricola Ananda after renting a piece of land above Teolo with panoramic views of Padua. With support from his father, he planted his first vines, focusing on Garganega, Merlot, Moscato Giallo, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. While waiting for his vineyards to mature, Edoardo worked at a bistro in Padua, where he was introduced to the world of natural wine. This encounter led him to apprenticeships at Domaine des Miquettes and Domaine Rietsch, where he gained valuable experience in natural winemaking.

By 2020, Edoardo released his first vintage under his own name, a culmination of years of dedication and learning.

The Vineyards and Philosophy

Ananda’s vineyards span two hectares at an altitude of 200 meters, nestled in soil rich with clay, limestone, and volcanic minerals. Edoardo’s farming methods are entirely manual, free of chemical inputs, and aligned with biodynamic principles. His process emphasizes respect for the land and the natural rhythms of the earth.

In the cellar, Edoardo allows his wines to ferment spontaneously with natural yeasts, refraining from any additives. Depending on the grape and its terroir, he experiments with techniques like direct pressing, maceration, de-stemming, and whole-cluster fermentation to craft wines that are truly expressive of their origins.

A Global Influence with Local Roots

Edoardo’s inspiration draws from a diverse array of philosophies and practices. He has explored Hinduism, biodynamics, and alternative technologies during his travels, including time spent in Wales. This open-minded approach is central to his winemaking and his worldview, blending global ideas with local traditions.

Wines That Speak of Place

The wines of Ananda are a true reflection of Edoardo’s vision: full-bodied, concentrated, fresh, and juicy. They embody the spirit of the Euganean Hills and the passion of a winemaker dedicated to preserving the natural essence of his craft.

Edoardo Sacchetto isn’t just producing wine; he’s creating a legacy of authenticity, sustainability, and artistry—one bottle at a time.
