The Legacy of Marta and Carlotta Rinaldi: Upholding Tradition While Embracing Change

In the world of Barolo winemaking, legacy carries weight. For Marta and Carlotta Rinaldi, daughters of the late Giuseppe "Beppe" Rinaldi, this legacy is both a source of pride and a constant comparison. Their father, an icon of traditional Langhe winemaking, resisted modern trends, championing wines that spoke purely of their terroir. Since his passing in 2018, his daughters have taken the reins, striving to maintain his philosophy while adapting to the realities of a changing climate and evolving industry.

The sisters maintain the traditional approach to winemaking—long macerations, large barrels, and meticulous vineyard work. They employ the Simonit & Sirch pruning method to navigate climate shifts, understanding that what worked decades ago is no longer viable

Their commitment to tradition is evident, yet they’re unafraid to evolve. In 2019, they acquired a vineyard in Bussia, once leased, now officially producing a single-vineyard Barolo.
