Teruar - Ethical Wine Fair
WHO WE ARE
Teruar is an initiative by the cultural association Arsura - Sete Etica, working in synergy with winemakers to foster the exchange of ideas and solutions within the world of natural, biodynamic, and artisanal wines.
This event brings together wine producers in a shared space—historic buildings, gardens, squares, and beaches—throughout the Ragusa area, making use of locations that belong to the community.
WHY TERUAR?
The name of the fair originates from the French word terroir, an untranslatable term in Italian that represents the combination of natural factors, local traditions, and the careful craftsmanship of viticulture in tending the land.
In Sicily, the pronunciation of terroir takes on a rougher, more intense sound—Teruar—which further reinforces its meaning.
Through the promotion of natural wine culture, alongside local agricultural and artisanal traditions, Teruar serves as a platform to highlight both the Italian and European winemaking landscape in all its rich diversity.
WHY ETHICAL WINE?
Teruar is Sicily’s only natural wine fair, centered around winemakers and the philosophy of ethical viticulture. This means organic or biodynamic production that is non-intensive, sustainable, respectful of both nature and tradition, yet always forward-looking and mindful of human impact.
WHY A FAIR?
Teruar is more than just a fair—it’s a celebration, welcoming both industry professionals and wine lovers who seek wines crafted with respect for nature. These wines embody the land where they are grown and the non-invasive approach of the winemaker, offering consumers authenticity, unique flavors, and an unpredictable sensory experience.
HIGHLIGHTS
Each edition of Teruar - Ethical Wine Fair incorporates cultural content, spanning photography, sculpture, and independent film screenings, including nationally exclusive documentary premieres focused on wine and winemakers.
