Wine from Here is a celebration of American natural wine; a gathering of makers, growers, and fermenters of wines and ciders who are doing pioneering and visionary work in agriculture and in the cellar. Open to the public and the trade, wine lovers, wine curious, and those that just want to have a good time and experience locally made things of beauty.
The name of the fair brushes up against the concept of ‘terroir’, which holds that a wine speaks of where it’s from… which is so obvious that we don’t understand why we still talk about it sometimes. But we have amazing fermented products here where we live. And in the same way that we celebrate local produce in our kitchens and at the greatest restaurants, we want to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of what we have here in the US: the novel approaches of new producers working without the baggage of ‘knowing’ how wine ‘should’ be, the growth and development of those who have been doing this for some time, and the fact that there are many wines and ciders of depth and great quality right in our figurative backyards.
