Ruth Lewandowski Wines – Honest, Heartfelt Natural Wines from California
Ruth Lewandowski Wines is a natural wine project founded in 2012 by winemaker Evan Lewandowski. Originally based in Utah, the winery later relocated to Healdsburg, California, in Sonoma County. The name "Ruth Lewandowski" is inspired by the biblical Book of Ruth, symbolizing transformation and redemption—principles that echo throughout Evan’s winemaking philosophy.
Evan sources grapes from organic and biodynamic vineyards, primarily in Mendocino County, including notable sites like Fox Hill and Testa Vineyards. He focuses on lesser-known Italian and French varietals such as Arneis, Cortese, Sangiovese, and Carignan. In the cellar, the methods are minimalist: native yeast fermentations, no additives, and little to no added sulfur, allowing the natural qualities of the fruit and site to shine through.
The wines are expressive and unique. Highlights include "Feints," a co-fermented red blend with a vivid, juicy profile; "Boaz," a robust yet fresh field blend from the Testa Vineyard; and "Naomi," a textured Grenache Gris from Gibson Ranch. Each bottle tells a story of place, season, and intention.
Ruth Lewandowski Wines has earned a respected place in the natural wine movement for its sincere, sustainable approach and vibrant bottlings. The tasting room in Healdsburg offers a down-to-earth space to discover these wines firsthand.
