The Founders

Antoine Lucchesi, from Marseille, France, nurtured his dream of working in the wine industry from a young age. After studying oenology in Alsace, he spent a decade gaining hands-on experience at wineries across Germany and France. His journey eventually led him to Berlin, where he teamed up with Daisy and Soma Vines to pursue his vision of creating wines that champion natural practices and authenticity.

Daisy Merrick, originally from Norwich, England, found her way into the world of wine through her hospitality career. Motivated to deepen her understanding, she pursued the WSET Advanced certification, which opened doors to work with renowned companies like Majestic Wines in London and Chambers Street Wines in New York. However, her growing fascination with winemaking inspired her to co-found Soma Vines in Berlin, marking the start of a new chapter in her career.

The Soma Vines Story

Founded in Berlin in 2018, Soma Vines began as an importing and distributing company specializing in natural wines. The company quickly evolved into a winemaking project when Antoine joined Daisy to produce their own wines. Their first vintage debuted in 2020, showcasing the pair's dedication to quality and sustainability.

Since 2023, Antoine and Daisy have been renting three hectares of vines in and around Eckelsheim, Germany. These vineyards, cultivated with organic and biodynamic methods, produce grapes that embody their shared philosophy. In addition to working their own land, Soma Vines collaborates with like-minded winemaker friends, sourcing grapes from those who uphold the same commitment to natural practices.

A Natural Wine Movement

Germany's natural wine scene is burgeoning, particularly in vibrant hubs like Berlin, where the demand for sustainable and minimally processed wines is growing. Soma Vines has emerged as a key player in this movement, celebrated for its innovative approach and high-quality offerings.
