Pontzan - Cherouche

CHF 27.00

Pontzan – Domaine de Chèrouche (Marc Balzan & Andrea Grossmann)

Region: Valais, Switzerland (Ayent, 600–850 m altitude; steep schist & quartz slopes)
Grape Variety: 100% Gamay
Vintage: 2022 (also upcoming 2023 release)
Alcohol: ~13% ABV
Bottle Size: 75 cl
Farming: Organic & biodynamic farming, heroic steep-slope viticulture

🌱 Viticulture & Vinification

Hand-harvested Gamay from two steep, high-altitude parcels around the domaine. Grapes are de-stemmed manually in the vineyard, then fermented using native yeasts in stainless tanks, with gentle maceration for ~2–4 weeks. No added sulphites, all wines are unfined and bottled by gravity after ~8 months aging in tanks .

🍒 Tasting Notes

Vivid ruby in the glass, Pontzan captivates with bright fresh raspberry, kirsch cherry, and spice lifted by a cool alpine minerality. The palate is fresh, juicy, and elegant with well-integrated fine tannins and a long, clean finish. A harmonious expression of Valais terroir, both vibrant and refined🍽️ Food Pairing

Delicious with herb-seasoned poultry, charcuterie or raclette, mushroom risotto, or grilled vegetables. Serve gently chilled (13–15 °C).

🌟 Why We Love It

Pontzan embodies the spirit of Chèrouche: adventurous alpine viticulture, zero intervention, and pure fruit expression. It’s a compelling Swiss Gamay—wild yet polished, spontaneous yet refined—a must-try for natural wine enthusiasts seeking mountain finesse .
