When the Setting Does the Heavy Lifting

At certain events, the venue isn’t just a backdrop—it becomes the main character. That was certainly the case at this fair, where Villa Ca’ Vendri offered far more than a picturesque setting. Surrounded by spring blooms, with guests lounging on the grass, enjoying good food and easy conversation, the atmosphere felt effortlessly special.

The scale was spot-on: intimate without being cramped, lively without feeling crowded. It was proof, if ever it was needed, that the right setting can do much of the heavy lifting. Villa Ca’ Vendri set the tone, invited people to slow down, and made the fair feel less like an event—and more like a moment.

Bü Cheese Bar – Turin, Italy

is a beloved cheese-centric bistro and wine bar located in Turin, Italy. It’s well-known for celebrating Italian artisanal cheeses, often sourced from small local producers, and for pairing them beautifully with natural wines, local craft beers, and thoughtfully prepared small plates , Lovely aged and Young Alpage Cheeses.

Wine Makers

The event was sponsored by Zalto , a €25 deposit for the glass, which was refunded at the end. You’re left walking around with this ticking time bomb, like transporting a human organ for transplant — a personal holy grail.
I managed to keep mine intact for the entire duration of the event.

cantina Giard

Cantina Giardo

Nestled in the mountains of Campania, just outside of Naples, Cantina Giardo is a remarkable ten-hectare estate committed to preserving indigenous grape varieties and time-honored winemaking practices.

Sophia

One of the flagship expressions is Sophia, a pure Fiano made from old vines. These deeply rooted plants yield wines of intensity and finesse, reflecting the volcanic soils and high-altitude climate of Campania. The varietal, native to the region, is handled with minimal intervention to let its true character shine.

Greco

Their Greco undergoes four days of skin contact maceration before resting for a full year in large chestnut barrels. It’s a beautiful example of Italy’s regional approach — using locally sourced wood,

Rosato

The Rosato sees two days of skin contact, followed by a natural fermentation and aging (or "selvage") in large chestnut barrels. The result is a structured, aromatic rosé with a touch of wildness and depth.

Coda di Volpe Rosso

A rare red made from Coda di Volpe, traditionally a white grape, vinified here as a red with just two days of skin contact. It’s made without added sulphites and undergoes a slow, natural fermentation

Reds from Janico

Cantina Giardo’s red wines, especially those from the Janico vineyard, are stunning. The vines here are up to 100 years old, and every grape is estate-grown. After fermentation, the wines are aged for one month in concrete (béton), then spend five years in chestnut barrels, followed by five more years in bottle before release.

Chore Bianco

Hit of the Day.

L’Acino – Natural Wines from Calabria

Based in the rugged hills of Calabria, L’Acino is the work of Dino Briglio Nigro, who focuses on low-intervention winemaking that highlights native grape varieties and local terroir.

Fermentation and aging are mostly done in stainless steel to preserve freshness and clarity. Dino’s wines are known for their purity—clean, expressive, and full of southern energy.

A highlight is his Mantonico, from 60-year-old vines. One cuvée undergoes a 12-day skin maceration and a year of aging in mulberry barrels—an uncommon wood that enhances the wine’s texture and nuance without overpowering its character.

He also produces a white blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia, with two days of skin contact, offering a delicate balance of aromatics and grip.
