Gamay VDP Switzerland 🖤💥

Clément Magliocco Gamay

This Gamay from Clément Magliocco is a beautiful expression of the Valais terroir, crafted with a philosophy of minimal intervention. The grapes are organically grown in the Chamoson region of Valais, Switzerland, on a small, biodynamically farmed parcel.

Vintage: Typically a fresh and vibrant expression of the vintage, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fruit-forward character and freshness.

Tasting Notes:

  • On the Nose: Expect a bouquet of dark and red fruits, such as blackberry and cherry, with a subtle spicy quality. There may also be a hint of smokiness or a touch of tobacco, which serves as a reminder of the unique terroir.

  • On the Palate: The wine is known for its dense texture and a beautiful, vibrant freshness. It is not overly tannic, with fine, delicate tannins that provide structure without being aggressive. The palate is driven by juicy fruit, a testament to the Gamay grape's natural exuberance. It often surprises with a remarkable length for a wine of its style.

  • Winemaking: The wine is made from organically grown grapes, with spontaneous fermentation, and is typically bottled with only a light filtration and minimal added sulfur. This approach allows the wine to be a pure and unadulterated reflection of the grape and the land.

Pairing Suggestions: This is a versatile Gamay that pairs wonderfully with a wide range of foods. It's an excellent choice for a simple meal, a summer barbecue, a classic Valaisan cheese and cured meat platter, or simply enjoyed on its own as an apéritif. Its freshness and fruitiness make it a great companion to dishes with rich flavors and is a perfect "drink with everything" kind of wine.

  • Vintage: 2023

  • Volume: 75 cl

  • Alcohol: 11.5%

  • Fermentation: Spontaneous

  • Pressing: Pneumatic

  • Filtration: Light

  • Aging: Stainless steel tank

Made from organically grown grapes in Chamoson, Valais, this wine beautifully embodies its unique terroir.
